Terms of Service

Welcome to Receipt Sharing. By accessing or using our mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement.

2. Account Registration

You may sign in using Google authentication. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activity that occurs under it. You agree to provide accurate information and to update it as needed.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law;
• Upload or share content that is fraudulent, misleading, defamatory, or infringes on the rights of others;
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other accounts, or related systems;
• Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service;
• Use automated means (bots, scrapers, etc.) to access the Service without prior written permission.

4. User Content

You retain ownership of content you upload, including receipt images and related data ("User Content"). By uploading User Content, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store, process, and display it solely to provide the Service to you and the users you choose to share it with.

You are solely responsible for the accuracy and legality of your User Content.

5. Subscriptions & Billing

The Service may offer paid monthly subscription plans. By subscribing, you agree to the following:

• Subscriptions are billed on a recurring monthly basis and will automatically renew at the end of each billing cycle unless you cancel before the renewal date.
• You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings or your device's app store subscription management. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you will retain access until then.
• Prices may change with reasonable notice. Continued use after a price change constitutes acceptance of the new price.

6. Refund Policy

You may request a full refund of a monthly subscription payment within 3 days of the charge date. After 3 days, the payment is non-refundable. To request a refund, contact us at support@receiptsharing.com with your account email and the date of the charge.

Refunds are issued to the original payment method and may take 5–10 business days to process. This policy does not affect any statutory refund rights you may have under applicable law.

7. Location Data

The Service includes a friend discovery feature that relies on your device's location. If you grant the app location permission and enable discovery, we collect your approximate location to help you find and connect with friends nearby. Location data is used exclusively for this purpose and is not sold or shared with third parties. You can revoke location permission or disable discovery at any time through your device settings or the app, and we will stop collecting your location immediately.

8. Privacy Policy

Your use of the Service is governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we handle your information. Key points include:

• Information we collect: Account data (name, email, profile picture) provided via Google Sign-In; receipt images and data you upload; your device's location if you grant permission, used to find friends nearby; and basic usage analytics.
• How we use it: To provide, maintain, and improve the Service; to enable features you opt into (e.g., nearby discovery, receipt sharing); and to communicate service-related updates.
• Sharing: We do not sell your personal data. We share information only with users you explicitly choose to share with, and with service providers necessary to operate the Service (e.g., cloud hosting, authentication).
• Data retention: We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Upon account deletion, your personal data is permanently removed within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
• Security: We use industry-standard measures including encryption in transit and at rest to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
• Children: The Service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

9. Account Deletion & Your Data Rights

You may delete your account at any time through the app settings. Upon deletion:

• Your profile, receipts, friend connections, and all associated data will be permanently removed within 30 days.
• Any active subscription will be cancelled at the end of the current billing period.
• Data already shared with other users (e.g., shared receipts) may remain visible to those users.

You may also request a copy of your data or ask questions about your data by contacting support@receiptsharing.com.

10. Push Notifications

The Service may send push notifications for friend requests, shared receipts, and other activity. You can manage or disable notifications at any time through your device settings.

11. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, code, logos, and trademarks, is owned by Receipt Sharing and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any right to use our branding without prior written consent.

12. Third-Party Services

The Service may integrate with third-party services (e.g., Google Sign-In). Your use of those services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices of third-party providers.

13. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause or notice. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including limitations of liability and indemnification) will continue to apply.

14. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

15. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Receipt Sharing and its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or data, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service.

16. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Receipt Sharing from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

17. Dispute Resolution

Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service shall first be addressed through good-faith informal negotiation by contacting us at support@receiptsharing.com. If the dispute is not resolved within 30 days, either party may pursue binding arbitration administered under the rules of a mutually agreed arbitration body. Class actions and class arbitrations are not permitted; disputes must be brought on an individual basis.

Nothing in this section prevents either party from seeking injunctive or equitable relief in a court of competent jurisdiction.

18. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the Service or by other reasonable means. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

19. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which Receipt Sharing operates, without regard to conflict of law principles.
